Semi-Integrated Overview

For a semi-integrated payment solution, developers need to integrate to the terminal’s interface which works with our API to provide payment authorizations. POS developers will send all necessary data (minus the card data) through an API call to the terminal. The terminal will listen for the request. When it receives the request, it will wake up and ask for card data.

Once the card data is inserted, the terminal will make the downstream call to Clearent for authorization approval. Once that is received, the terminal will send the response back to the POS system.

This approach allows all card data to bypass the POS, reducing their PCI scope need for EMV certification.

Semi-Integrated Transaction Flow

  1. Developer integrates to Clearent API
  2. Developers will need to integrate to the terminal interface of choice (Dejavoo or Pax)
  3. Terminals will point to Clearent API to provide payment authorization (Card Data)
  4. As a POS developer, you will send all necessary data (minus the card data) through an API call to the terminal. The terminal will listen for your request. When it receives the request, it will wake up and ask for card data.
  5. The terminal will make the downstream call to Clearent for authorization approval. Once that is received, the terminal will send the response back to the POS system.
  6. Merchant can use Compass for reporting and analytics. ISV can use Compass as well for monitoring and reporting.
